WORKSHOPS
Traditional Green Woodworking
Learn how to use traditional woodland carpentry tools to cut, cleave, shape and turn green wood using throes, draw knives, shave horses and pole lathes. Come and spend a day in our straw bale Turners’ Hut learning how to make beautiful things, quietly, easily, without any power tools and entirely in harmony with the natural world. Staying warm around the outdoor stove using the shavings to keep us warm.
Working with Wool
Learn how to use natural dye coloured wools and weave them into a hanging of your own design. Use our drum carder to blend your own choice of colours. Come and spend the day free of stress, where the only decision you need to make is which colour to choose next.........then let your fingers do the talking. We will be gathered at Elmscroft our 650 year old farmhouse, with a cosy fire to keep us warm whilst we weave or create our own pictures as we turn wool into felt.
Both courses will be held at Elmscroft and will run on the following days. The cost is fully inclusive of materials, lunch of homemade soup (made from vegetables from our organic vegetable garden) and freshly made bread and refreshments throughout the day.
