HELEN GRANT MP PAYS VISIT TO DANDELION TIME PROJECT

Children’s charity doing wonders for local community

Maidstone, Kent, 12^th July 2010 – Helen Grant MP paid a visit to the Dandelion Time project on Friday 9^th July 2010. The project, based at Elmscroft House, West Farleigh, assists 7-16 year olds with serious emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Graham Carpenter, the project’s chief executive, and Dr Caroline Jessel, its Chairman provided Helen a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by children with behavioural difficulties, and what can be done to overcome them. Mrs Grant then toured the facilities and met some of the volunteers.

Helen said: “This is a great example of a social action project – a real demonstration of what local charities can achieve to assist the entire community.” She added, “Dandelion Time approaches children’s problems in a unique way which really makes a positive difference to their lives.”

Dandelion Time does not just involve children, but also includes their entire family in creative, gardening and farm projects. This allows the children to grow in confidence, develop their sense of self worth and awaken their creative potential.

Graham Carpenter, the project’s leader, was nominated for the Pride of Maidstone Award last year in recognition of the project’s excellent work.
